The Diploma for Orthopaedics (DO) is a 1-2 year (1 year is compulsory and 1 year is optional) diploma course. It has the study of the musculoskeletal system which is its main focus. Through the studies students themselves grasp the concepts like the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disorders and injuries of the joints, bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.

Attending for the program is based on the highest degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent. Apart from that, the institutes also enroll students who have done their 10+2 with science as a single discipline.

Diploma in Orthopaedics Course Eligibility

1. Applicants must have cleared MBBS or equivalent course enlisted in the Indian Medical Council. The candidate mandatory complete a rotatory 12 months of internship in an institution approved by the Medical Council of India.

2. Candidates must have registered with either the State Medical Council or the Medical Council of India and possess a certificate of registration prior to joining the Diploma course. For admission registration, either temporary or permanent certificate from Medical Council of the State or Medical Council of India has to be submitted.  

3. No age limit is set for the Diploma in Orthopaedics course but it is open to everyone. Candidates who meet the basic academic qualifications will be allowed to join this programme with no upper limit to their age.

4. People attend the test based on the fact that individuals need to excel in the qualifying examination. As a qualifier for some institutions to do to through an entrance exam. 

5. For candidates who have already finished MS (General Surgery) or DNB (General Surgery), the duration of the program will be of 2 years. For candidates who have already finished their D Ortho courses, the duration will be of 1 year.

6. Besides this, medical council of India may put some supplementary eligibility criteria such as marks obtained in MBBS or scores in the qualifying exam as it is controlled by some colleges/universities.

Diploma in Orthopaedics Admission 2024

1. Firstly, get an MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS etc., from any medical stream. Similarly, enroll in nursing, physiotherapy courses etc. 

2. Obtain Provisional Registration from Medical Council of India/State Medical council. 

3. Try to have a diploma course on medicine from the top institutions after the announcement has been made.

4. Write main entrance test or get to the list of students to be admitted. 

5. If you are selected, the next step would be to complete the admission requirements by paying the fees and handing in the required documents.  

6. Complete necessary formalities pertaining to registration as stipulated in the norms. 

7. Conclude 2-year diploma course including examination and practical training.
