Diploma in Journalism, is one of the popular choices for students who wish to pursue a career in journalism. This diploma covers all the aspects of journalism across print, television, radio and digital media.

The eligibility criteria for the course are 10+2 pass from any stream for all the students. Some academic institutes also have age limit in higher education such as 28-30 years. In this plan, a study course would last for 1 year, which would be divided into 2 semesters consisting 6 months each. In addition to this, some an institutes also provide 40-week diploma programs in part-time, offered two weekends per month.

Diploma in Journalism Admission Process

1. Determine the schools and colleges you are going to apply for this diploma course by weighing on your considerations such as, tuition fees, place of study and the program placement among other factors then select 3- 4 options.

2. Find out if you meet the college criteria with respect to your educational background, & minimum percentage required in exams. Make sure to also verify the admission requirements if applicable.

3. Appear for and attend their entrance exams of the institutes. These exams should be prepared for. Look into the application documents that you might be required to submit including your academic transcripts, ID documents, and references letters.

4. Send the resumes along with the diploma admission applications before the designated deadline following the provided format for each college. Make sure you have met all the requirements of the document section and attached the necessary documents.

5. In the case you are accepted, make your admission stand by paying the entrance and tuition fees. Make sure you fill in the details of any documents asked for by the institution, so that the enrollment process is complete Show up college orientation programs if conducted weeks prior to the commencement of course.

Diploma in Journalism Eligibility

1. Having completed your 10 + 2 (of-any-stream) from a reputable board. The students qualified successfully after senior secondary school certificates or the same exams can submit an application.

2. Colleges of that kind don’t set any particular minimum percentage as the general admission condition. Some colleges pay enough attention to the mark awarded in 10+2 exam and demands a minimum of 45-50%.  

3. A wide variety of students can register for journalism diploma courses. For instance, students who have completed 10+2 (coursework) from vocational or technical streams are also eligible for these courses. 

4. Unlike the journalism majors, boot camp for journalism has no exam for admission. Admission has often depended upon 10+2 pass score. Some institutions of higher education do interviews to decide whether an individual is eligible for enrollment or not.

5. International students have to make sure they meet the minimum requirements of admission for that university/college. The norm is a 10+2 level certification by a well-reputed board to accomplish this.

6. Majority of the colleges now have the percentage cut for the backward and reserved classes including the students from SC, ST and OBC. 

7. Similarly, those holding regular jobs can also enroll in part-time or distance learning courses established by the institute curriculum. It may also need other work history experience to be taken into account.

Diploma in Journalism Entrance Exams

IIMC Entrance Exam: The first phase covers the range of candidate's knowledge, writing skills and the thinkability through penal and personal interview for shortlisted candidates.

XIC OET (Xavier's Institute of Communications Online Entrance Test): Rates participants' English, language, media exposure and clarity by an interactive online test ending with a face to face interview.

ACJ Entrance Exam (Asian College of Journalism): Undertakes exam based on different issues, studies and writing skills through the written exam, personal interview and group discussion.

SIMC MA (Mass Communication) Entrance Test: It checks candidates' current affairs' informational status and ability to follow the media and communicate significantly during a test of writing, a group discussion, and interview.

Symbiosis SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test): The tests measure the overall English of candidates in a written mode, logical reasoning and analytical skills through an online and written assessment tool, further individual pre-selection also conducts a written ability test and personal interview.
