1. Educational Qualification: Candidate should have passed the 10th standard or equivalent from a recognized board such as: CBSE, Matric or IGCSE. While some colleges may need the candidates with 12th pass.
2. Age Limit: The study of a diploma as a rule is not a subject to age limit: there are cases of early admission and cases of late enrollment as well. Anyone over eighteen years and fulfilling the necessary prerequisites has opportunity to be chosen to run.
3. Subjects Required: Whether the candidate hails from someone with a background in education or not, this course is for all. Nevertheless, I haven’t found it so hard to pursue a degree in fields like Home Science, Nutrition and Chemistry.
4. Entrance Tests: Main central agencies which provide such diploma do not use any admission test. However, admissions will be strictly assessed by the 10th class marks.
5. Physical Fitness: For this culinary program, perfect physical health and ability of doing all the cooking techniques, along with standing for long hours for the completion of this course is necessary.
6. Any other criteria: Certain institutes carry out one-to-one interviews or group discussions to investigate the interest and the potential of the applicants in this field before they make an offer of admission onto their program.
NCHM JEE (National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination): Tests on professional style in cooking, catering, and hospitality.

3. Entrance exam - Shortlisted candidates must give an on campus invitation test which would test their verbal skills, quantitative aptitude and logical ability.
4. Counseling - Candidates whose entrance scores gate them into the best schools are then called for “counseling,” a tiered system deciding course allocation based on ranks, preferences and seat availability.
