The Diploma in Garment Making is a 1-year of vocational studies course in the fashion industry. It is designed to provide knowledge and skills on apparel production and the same time graduates students to careers in the industry. Students not only get to know about the complete process of turning fabric into well tailored clothing with up to date industry standards and trends but also how they manage all of them.
The course embodies the facts of the pattern making, the cuttings, the stitching and the finishing, the quality control and the soft skills like communication, teamwork, and work ethics. Pupils learn the more practical and connected processes of taking body dimensions, straightening them, working with industrial sewing machine, and make the final piece with embroidery, applique work, pleating and relevant techniques. The internship ranging from 1-2 month is an essential part of the program which can be customized according to the industry requirements, such as the apparel manufacturing unit of a leading export house or boutique, to provide exposure in the industry.

1. Educational Qualification - Candidates must have passed Tenth standard or equivalent from a recognized board. Some organizations may demand 12th passed youth.
2. The cut-off age for admission is 17-18 years. Generally, students sit for PSAT for those in the age group above which there is no upper age limit.
3. Physical Fitness - Candidates should be in a position of sitting and working for hours in doing the mesh-making tasks such as sewing, cutting, and stitching. They also need to have a normal vision and should have had the ability to the former tasks.
4. Creativity -- Having the basic ability to draw, sketch, and combine colors is a plus factor as it involves a visualization of the design and its actualization into reality.
5. No Background Necessary - None of your background or sewing skills will be taken into account, once you have signed up for this course, irrespective of whether you have never sewn anything or are a professional designer. The candidates can take on these diploma courses which offer opportunities to those who have just started.
6. Written Testing - Written tests are often administered institutes that require inquisitiveness, sound creativity and other qualities of a candidate. Some institutes do not require candidates to sit for entrance tests if they qualify for enrollment.
