A Diploma in Fashion Design is a course that enables students to learn more about fashion design in an effort to produce qualified candidates who would fit the fashion industry well. Diploma course is designed for 1-3 years, and the courses offered include design fundamentals, pattern making, construction of garments, fashion illustration, draping, use of CAD, and knowledge in textile and fabrics. Besides, written and verbal communications, students also learn theoretical knowledge, practical implementation through project work and internships.
The diploma also admits students depending on their previous experiences. The most important criteria for admissions include a design creative skills test, including drawing proficiency. Another selection criteria is a face-to-face interview and assessment of a portfolio. Candidates are required to have passed 10+2 from any recognized board as per the Nashik Municipal Corporation notification. Some institutes even provide direct admission to the 3-year diploma program to those students who pass 10th standard.
