The Certificate Course in Blood Transfusion (CCBT) course is a 6 months professional qualification course which aims at training the technicians and technologists to work with the doctors for collection, processing, testing, and storage of the blood. This program is operated by different medical schools and hospitals with an aim of developing a professional and efficient workforce for blood banks. The course curriculum covers the theoretical knowledge and hands on practice in the duties such as blood group serology, collection methods of blood, preparing blood components, blood storage, quality control and assurance, laboratory methods of blood group determination, documentation, stock control among others. 

It is noteworthy that the least qualification for admission to CCBT course is 10+2 Science or any equivalent qualification. Some institutes admit candidates based on their performance in the qualifying exam as a standard measure. Some institutes also have their own competitions that they use to screen students for admission. Some of these top academic institutes that offer the Computer Based Test for the selection of the students for their CCBT programmes include the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) or the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER – Chandigarh).

1. Candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or obtained equivalent qualification.

2. Should have passed the minimum age of 18 years in the course of admission to the course. 

3. They should provide a medical fitness certificate from a licensed medical practitioner.

4. For those candidates, who have passed 10+2 level, they should have passed English as one of the subjects.

5. Should maintain all the documents such as, 10+2 certificates, mark sheets, birth certificate, medical certificate while joining the university.

6. It depends on the merit obtained in the qualifying examination, availability of seats in the particular institution and the rules and regulation of the institution for that year.
