Bachelor of Technology (BTech) is a well-known degree at the undergraduate level that is offered in India by institutes of engineering. Through this program (a professional degree; 4 years / 8 semesters), students will gain a grounded education across the engineering domain and will master technical skills.
Students may opt for Computer Science Engineering, Mechatronics, and even Mechanical System Design among other branches of engineering. The course program opens with the subject of math, science, and engineering principles and is followed by the subject matter pertaining to those engineering streams that students choose.
Feature | Description |

Focus | Provides a strong foundation in engineering principles, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities. |
Specializations | Offered in a wide range of engineering disciplines, from Civil and Mechanical Engineering to Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. |
Career Paths | Opens doors to diverse engineering jobs in various industries like IT, manufacturing, infrastructure, and more. |
1. The eligibility is Class 12th Physics, Chemistry, and Maths with pass aggregate marks between 50-60% considering college/university requirement.
2. Admission is through JEE (Main) and state-level competitive examinations, and 10+2 scores. National level examinations include JEE Main, WBJEE and COMEDK.
3. After declaring the entrance test results, candidates are individually counseled based on their rank which helps them choose their preferred engineering stream and college.
4. Lastly, allocated seats must be finalized and admitted candidates had to verify admission by paying fees and submit the needed paperwork within the given time frame.
1. For the enrollment, the candidate must have passed 10+2 from any recognized board or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects. The students should have minimum 60% marks taken together in 2 of the above subjects together. 50 % will be requirement for reserved category students.
2. A valid score in national/state-level engineering entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, etc. will be considered. The minimum marks requirement differs among institutes and branches.
3. Certain universities also evaluate 10+2 board grades with entrance examination results to decide admission procedures. The minimum total percentage of marks in 12th examination boards may vary between 50-60%.
4. As well as, coming into the final year 12 exams could also be considered. Students of this sort have to submit the marksheet of their senior secondary exams before a fixed date to opt for this admission.
5. There are some institutes which do the B.Tech entrance test at their own campus to choose candidates for their university. The race to secure a top spot is conducted in the form of aptitude tests and an interview session in which the interviewer decides the merit.
6. The previous guideline was the age limit criterion with the minimum age ranging from 16-21 years different for universities admissions.
7. Reserved seats refer to the seats specifying the admission criteria based on the government norms making it easy for the reserved category candidates to get admitted.
