3 Years
Degree
Graduation
Full Time

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Zoology is an undergraduate programme that runs at maximum 3 years which exposes students to all aspects of the animal kingdom. Course combines subject matters like cardiac anatomy & physiology, cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, animal behavior, parasitology, embryology, biodiversity conservation and many others.

Students get acquainted with a plenty of animal phyla such as Protozoans and Mammals and cover the range of simple single-cell organisms to very complex creatures. In this course, students follow a balance between theoretical classroom lessons and practical laboratory sessions. In the lab sessions, students get done practical work like dissection of animals, studying various cells and tissues using microscopes, studying the ecosystem in actual, and so on.

BSc Zoology Course Eligibility 2024

1. 10+2 or equivalent examination pass which must be in Science stream only from the recognized board. Biology is a standard subject which high school students are required to study.

2. Some institutes prefer 55% or even more, but the lowest marks a student need to secure is 45%. College entrance exams are taken by many high schools.

3. For IITs and top institutes which primarily offer science courses, the candidates need to clear national/state level examinations for instance JEE Advanced, KVPY, etc.

4. Many universities in fact implement their own tests apart from the entrance examinations for B.Sc. Zoology admission.

5. The subjects of study in 10+2 science stream are also considered, namely, like physics, biology, or mathematics if you are interested in the science field. When the roles are conversely applied, you must ensure good grades in the related subjects also.

6. Account provision for reserved category students (SC/ST/OBC) may be the availability of more relaxed percentage in aggregate grading (may be 5-10%) in the admissions.

7. Older age candidates from open/general group are usually 20 years or below. The reserved category can be granted age relaxation of 5-year age relaxation.

B.Sc Zoology Entrance Exams

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test): It is demanded of every undergraduate medical and dental school applicant to sit for the NEET, where biology syllabus includes the topics that are related to zoology.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Taken by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, this exam measures the biology, comprising of zoology, through which candidates become more qualified to hold positions in very graduate medical programs.

State-level Entrance Exams: The state-level entrance exams often contain the sections on biology or life sciences which serve to be the qualifying test for the zoology students seeking admission in the undergraduate level zoology or the other related disciplines.

BSc Zoology Admission 2024

1. Educational Qualification: 10+2/equivalent with the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/maths scoring at least 50% aggregate from a recognized board.

2. Entrance Test: During national/ state level exams like NEET we had to undergo these processes. Others introduce additional common entrance tests in addition to the SAT and GPA.

3. Application Process: Use the internet or go directly to the campus recruitment office and fill in an application form and submit it with the necessary documents including mark sheets, certificates, scorecard, etc. Pay registration fees.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Zoology) Overview 2024 FAQs

However, the duration of this program varies between three and four years depending either on the institution or any additional components that are included, such as internships or research projects.

Although bioscience background provides a solid foundation, some institutions still provide foundational courses or bridge programs to help students who studied something else before begin BSc Zoology.

Then graduates can find employment as wildlife biologists, conservationists, zookeepers, research assistants, consultants in the environmental field, science teachers or move on to get higher degrees in fields such as ecology or veterinary science.

Definitely there are many BSc Zoology courses that give students an opportunity to participate in field trips, laboratory practicals, and hands-on experiments which are intended to equip them with practical skills and real life scenarios to which the biological concepts apply.

There are institutes that specialize in marine biology, ecology, or conservation biology, and that offer additional courses to BSc Zoology students in the form of optional classes or courses.

The institutions provide students with practical opportunities, such as internships, fieldworks, or research projects, which allow them to develop hands-on skills in zoology.
