The Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) is a full-time professional undergraduate degree program of 3 years' duration designed for providing training to students in order to emerge as physical education teachers and sports coaches.
The first batch of Bachelor of Physical Education course in India was initiated in the 1960s with an objective to improve the standard of the physical education and coaching in the schools and colleges by producing quality teachers. 1. Graduation
The basic eligibility requirement for candidates is a minimum of a bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
2. Minimum Marks
Only students belonging to the general category, having secured at least 50% marks in graduation since they commenced the course, are eligible. For students from the reserved category, the required minimum percentage might be 45% or higher.
3. Subject Studied
It is compulsory that students who took languages, social sciences, sciences, or maths as their electives in school graduation must select them as their major subjects
4. Entrance Test
Candidates may sit for a state BPEd entrance test or join college through the route of BPEd colleges. Some university have their internal standardised tests.
5. Physical Fitness
Applicants should be healthy, no serious health issues and they should not be less than age requirement, otherwise being a teacher becomes a problem. We require you to also include a medical report with your application.
DU BPEd Entrance: Sports Science, general principles of physical education, and teaching methodology are assessed on the test.
BHU PET (BPEd): Assesses the depth of knowledge in sports psychology, exercise physiology, and sports management provided by the course.
MP BPEd Entrance: Sports training, sports health education and sports sociology could be some of the topics covered.
APPECET: Evaluates the strengths and areas for improvement in sport coaching techniques, physical education theory and recreational management.
UP BPEd Entrance: Consists of publications about sports nutrition, biomechanics and fitness evaluation approaches.
