A 5.5- year long undergraduate Medical Degree of Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is leading in India. The program spans over 4.5 academic years and has to be followed by a professional internship for at least 1 year.
The academic part covers the major topics like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, microbiology and community medicine along with clinical branches in ENT, ophthalmology, medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology and surgery. The first two take a look at pre- and para-clinical subjects through the last two and a half years which focuses on clinical subjects on both theoretical and practical bases through hospitals and clinics.
1. Qualify in Medical Entrance Exam: From NEET to CET exams, you are now a national or state level applicant aiming for good rank by showing excellent one. Therefore, the first thing that is required is this.
2. Apply for Counseling Registration: A group of experienced and dedicated counselors will be available to guide you on selecting a college based on your admission requirements after you receive your exam results. The registration for the counseling session will be open.
3. Attend Counseling as per Rank: Your order of duty will be given according to your rank or merit. Having narrowed down the choices, let the next rounds lead you to more preferred colleges and their majors.
4. Medical Fitness Test & Documentation: Ensure you get a medical checkup upon levelling up in college to demonstrate your fitness. Also goes through all the relevant papers.
5. Secure Admission: If medical approval is received, then payment of fees and submission of necessary documents may be done so that you will be admitted to the college within the agreed period of time as the authorities indicate.
6. MBBS Orientation & Classes: Plan out the orientation during the first week of classes. Make every effort and work hard for these coming 5.5 years. A medical study is a tough one.
1. Along with the passing of class 12th standard or its equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as principal subjects, you should also produce all the required documents for identification. Equivalently speaking, you should have achieved not less than 50% marks in these subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates).
2. Let the age at 17 years old on 31st December, no matter which year it is, be the cut-off date for your application. The age limit of the exams and the admissions is not recorded.
3. The competition among these thousands of students is so tight that only a small percentage gets through the entrance exam for admission to MBBS level. The NEET, AIIMS MBBS, JIPMER MBBS, AFMC MBBS, and the state level exam belongs to the category. Each exam has its own eligibility criteria.
4. However, if you are applying for admission under the special NRI/management quota of private institutions you may get a concession from appearing in entrance exam in some of the colleges. In addition, a number of other eligibility conditions are required.
5. The medical fitness must be demonstrated that is required for MBBS studies. Each university, requires a medical inquiry before admitting a student.
NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test): The foundation stone for MBBS and BDS programs in India, it tests the grasp of physics, chemistry and biology.
AIIMS MBBS: Entrance exam conducted to get admitted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) which includes questions in physics, chemistry, biology and general knowledge.
JIPMER MBBS: Conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, the tests will check your ability in physics, chemistry, biology, and comprehension.
COMEDK UGET: For the Admission to MBBS/BDS in the Karnataka Medical and Dental Colleges participating, the aptitude in physics, chemistry, and biology will be tested.
AFMC MBBS: The Pre-Med entrance examination for the Armed Forced Medical College, Pune, covering subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, English, and logical reasoning.
