BEd (Bachelor of Education) in Social science is a 2 year long teacher training program in India that develops the skills and expertise of a Social science teachers in secondary and higher secondary schools.

The Department of Social Sciences that was founded in 1960s followed the recommendation of the Kothari Commission to develop professionally trained teachers in India. It is currently of the most commonly chosen BEd specializations that are chosen for the next step of studying subjects in History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, and Sociology.

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Social Science) Eligibility 2024

1. Graduation

- Bachelor’s degree in any field (arts, science, commerce, humanities, IT and so on) from recognized institution.

2. Minimum Marks

- At least 50% aggregate marks for all students (45% for the reserved category candidates).

3. Subjects Studied 

- I should have opted for the at least 2 social science subjects in college that either I chose the History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, and Anthropology etc.

4. Entrance Exam

- There is a requirement to be qualified in the entrance exam for an example; the State BEd CET and University exam etc. whenever applicable.

5. Age Limit

- Not a single age cap.

- Several universities established specific age boundary of 19 years old.

6. Other Documents

- Grade 10 and 12 Mark Sheets and Certificates. 

- Graduation degree certificate 

- Cast certificate as per needs (if applicable). 

- Besides the above, special conditions in other States notified as applicable.

DU B.Ed. Social Science Entrance: Social science subjects such as history, geography, political science, and economics are assessed through these tests and reasoning skills are developed.

BHU B.Ed. Social Sciences Entrance: Analyze level of understanding of social science concepts, educational psychology and pedagogy.

JNU B.Ed. (Social Science) Entrance: Topics from the social sciences, educational theories, and research methods fields are touched upon, evaluating candidates' analyzing and reasoning skills.

IGNOU B.Ed. Entrance: Consists of the social science subject disciplines, the pedagogical knowledge and the general awareness for teaching.
