The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Animation is a postgraduate course emphasis on teaching students animation art and craft. The time spent on the course is 3 years, and the total number of semesters is 6. 

The curriculum presents a good synopsis dilating on a broad range of the 2D and 3D animation. Students will cover lessons on these animation principles like storyboarding, character designing, visual effects, 3D modelling, texturing, lighting and background artwork. A comprehensive training is provided on various software tools such as Adobe Animate, Maya, Blender and Adobe After Effects to name a few.

Drawing a curtain over the main technical skills, the students will acquire the secondary theoretical aspects of the cinema, storytelling, photography, acting, art history among other lessons. They use this learning to learn to discern visual and sound harmony and visual effects which are some of the key features to animation in its entirety.

BA Animation Admission 2024

1. See if you meet the requirements of animation course like subjects joined, scores of minimum marks, portfolios needed etc. Go through the intro of animation program which included overview, curriculum, faculty, internships, etc for better understanding of the program. 

2. Set all the documents needed for admission application otherwise popularly known as CV like: transcripts copies, test scores, recommendation letters, personal statement, resume featuring creativity skills and relevant experience, artwork portfolio samples showing your style and proficiency level.

3. Please send the filled-in application, either online or by putting into a box, before the stated deadline. Commonly, the application fee and necessary supporting documents should be sent together with the admission application form. An interview or portfolio review will be made, in some cases.  

4. If I get selected, make sure you verify the offer letter details, e.g. the program duration, the specializations, the fees per semester; the courses/topics/areas within the specialization offered by the university, the available scholarships; complete the admission formalities, such as enrolment and paying fee; all the enrollment and payment forms in the stipulated time.

5. In terms of accommodation, you should secure a place near the campus if you are moving, and you need to obtain an education loan if you need one. Next, buy fundamental books and supplies, along with a graphics tablet, laptop, software, etc.  

6. Participate in the orientation program to come up with your grasp on the course structure, meet up with the faculty as well as the peers. Grasp the academic policies and create a course schedule later.

BA Animation Course Eligibility 2024

1. BBA will be open to the 10+2 pass class in any stream from a recognized board. The students who have the intermediate level qualifications which primarily comprises of arts, science, and commerce fields can now apply for animation degrees after finishing them.

2. The final cutoff marks may range between 50-60% from the basic requirement of 12th class examinations of every college. Others put a certain percentage of marks as their pass mark for admission. 

3. The right talent to do drafting, drawing, and artistic works usually differentiates two candidate at the entrance exam. Classes and experience with fine art skills such as painting or sketching can be very positive during application admission process.

4. English language proficiency - reading, writing and speaking are already vital skills as most animation courses go along with pictures and mediums of English. As far as the possession of minimum level of English is concerned, this is absolutely must.  


5. The usual age limit for UG animation courses with a duration of 3 years starting from 16-23 years. The notion of relaxation up to 25 years is a common one in many colleges.

6. Portfolio submission - College applicants will be asked to showcase their creative works through a portfolio which will include 5-10 pieces such as arts, sketches, and digital artworks etc., as well as admission forms to judge artistic ability.

BA Animation Entrance Exams

UCEED: Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) tests applicants' aptitude in design and animation by using a computer-based examination which measures their creativity, visualization, problem-solving skills, and other characteristics.

NID Entrance Exam: National Institute of Design (NID) conducts an entrance test in Animation which includes Design Aptitude Test (DAT), Prelims and Mains measuring candidate's aptitude for design, creativity and visual perception which is demanded in animation.

MITID DAT: The DAT (Design Aptitude Test) from the Instruction of Design of MIT evaluates the drawing skills, creativity, observation , and design thinking, which supports animation.

SEED: The Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) tests the scholarly aptitude, creative minds, observation skills and problem solving skills and those are directly linked to animation.
