AME Mechanical grade in India, the other being Avionics . AME course duration is for 3 year after 12th grade with science stream containing Physics, Chemistry and Maths as subject modules. The mechanical stream of aircraft deals with mechanical systems and components such as the engine, hydraulics, pneumatics, landing gears etc. and various mechanical controls including fuel funnels and vents. It is a combination of theory courses and hands-on training of extended periods. Among the major subjects of the program are Air Material Chemistry, Aircraft Instrument Systems, Aviation Law, Electrical Engineering as well as Piston & Gas Turbine engines.
In the AME mechanical program, students who are qualified to obtain the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License from DGCA Directorate General of Civil Aviation are trained. This is making them as the sole authorities and having them sign the Certificate of Release is the most important part. AMEs do maintenance, tune the system and repairs for aircraft.
Aspect | Details |
---|---|
Degree | Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) with Mechanical Stream |
Duration | Typically 2 to 3 years (varies by institution and regulatory requirements) |
Curriculum | Focuses on mechanical aspects of aircraft maintenance, including engines, airframes, and systems. |
Regulatory Approval | Programs accredited by regulatory authorities like DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation). |
Practical Training | Includes hands-on training on aircraft components, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures. |
1. One shall have passed 10+2 in Science stream with compulsory Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English. Minimum of 60% of aggregate marks should be for General category.
2. Can go through AIEED exam (Aeronautical Society of India method). The answer to this question is found in three subjects – math, science, English, reasoning and technical aptitude.
3. Using AIEED lists, aspirants get admission in authorized establishments which are delivering AME courses. Fees range from Rs. Course fee-Drops from the current 1-3 lakhs full course.
4. Course duration is 2 years spanning for four semesters whereby the first two semesters comprise an airframe stream which is further divided into other streams such as aircraft maintenance, technology, and workshop practices.
5. Must experience a 6 months internship in the aviation industry, this is as part of their curricular requirement. Through this, we will gain experience of airplane maintenance.
1. Satisfaction of the condition of having completed high school (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is normally demanded.
2. Some institutions might require the minimum percentages for particular subjects by these subjects.
3. The eligibility criteria may, therefore, be based on the regulatory needs and each institution’s internal policies.
4. Admission into AME Mechanical stream program might requires written exams passage or interviews.
5. One must satisfy health and fitness standards set by authorities of the aviation as a minimum requirement.
DGCA AME Entrance Exam: Conducted by Directorate General of Civil Aviation, which is for testing the candidates in topics such as Physics, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering as specified by the AME Licensing requisites.
AME CET: UWA test assesses the abilities in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, considered to be a base for the university programs including a Mechanical stream.
