The Certification in Computational Science is an interdisciplinary course that includes the instruction of using computational tools and methodology for the purpose of solving scientific and engineering problems with complexity. The standard period of study for the entire course in India is 6 months to 1 year. 

Coursework covers computing languages (like Python and R), numerical methods, ML algorithms, the efficient use of resources, data analysis and visualization, and the development of scientific models. Students no longer have to simply learn about computational techniques as they could now apply them in topics like physics, chemistry, biology, finance, climate change, etc.

This is a course that is aimed at delivering the science concepts through hands-on and projects that help the student to use computer and computational thinking to strengthen their science discoveries and innovations. The main concerns are creation of algorithms, coding, running of simulations, analysis of big data sets, and interpretation of results to product actions and directions.

Certification in Computational Science Course Eligibility

1. Mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, or engineering discipline, bachelor's degree, is the one that is required. Also bachelor degree’s in math or related quantitative fields may serve as the qualification.

2. At least 2 years of practise in a computational science role, where modelling and simulation techniques have been used in analyzing complex systems, would be good, and if possible. Given this, non-work experience can apply in place of work experience.  

3. Learning the basics of languages like Python, R, MATLAB, C++, or Java, and brainstorm knowledge in operating systems like Linux or Unix, is needed for that.

4. The nilly-willy of these concepts needs to be well-understood in terms of college level calculus, linear algebra, statistics and algorithms. It is essential for the student to take the course in numerical methods and super computing. 

5. Effective verbal and written communication abilities must be possessed to work in the vacuum of interdisciplinary work and to synthesize scientific information to present the analysis results.

6. Motivation of learning computer skills more deeply, staying in touch with the changing HPC architecture features, parallel programming models, big data analytics, machine learning concepts will all be a necessity.

Certification in Computational Science Entrance Exams

GRE Subject Test in Computer Science: An exam may contain topics such as algorithms, programming, theory and so on.

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) CS: This is a test of one’s computer sciences skills to get a postgraduate admission.

TOEFL iBT: Test English proficiency for all applied science program candidates who are immigrants and non-native speakers.
