NIILM University Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] Selection Criteria

  1. Educational Qualifications:

    • Candidates must have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
    • A minimum percentage or CGPA requirement in the qualifying examination may be specified by the university. This requirement can vary.
  2. Entrance Examination:

    • Many universities in India conduct engineering entrance examinations for B.Tech admissions. The most common entrance exams include JEE Main, JEE Advanced, state-level engineering entrance exams, and university-specific entrance tests.
    • The entrance exam score is a significant factor in the selection process. Candidates are typically ranked based on their performance in the exam.
  3. Merit-Based Selection:

    • In addition to entrance exam scores, universities may consider the candidate's academic performance in the 10+2 examination (i.e., the Class 12 board exam).
    • Some universities may calculate a composite score based on both the entrance exam score and 10+2 marks to determine merit.
  4. Subject-Specific Test or Interview:

    • For specialized B.Tech programs or under certain circumstances, candidates may be required to take a subject-specific test or appear for an interview to assess their knowledge and suitability for the program.
  5. Counseling:

    • Shortlisted candidates are typically called for counseling sessions. During counseling, they can select their preferred branch or specialization within B.Tech based on their rank and the availability of seats.
  6. Reserved Categories:

    • Universities in India often have reserved seats for candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD). Applicants from these categories may receive relaxation in eligibility criteria.
  7. Document Verification:

    • Candidates who are offered admission must undergo document verification to confirm the authenticity of their educational qualifications and other relevant documents.
  8. Fee Payment:

    • Admitted candidates are required to pay the admission fee and complete other administrative formalities to secure their seats in the B.Tech program.
