The Supreme Court of India Law Clerk examination takes place every year to choose to serve as the law guides to the Hon'ble Judges of the Supreme Court of India. It is no less than the most prestigious test for law students of the country. The test checks the applicants on their knowledge of the constitutional law, civil law, criminal law, and other branches of the legal law system. Candidates have to be undergoing a written test with two or three types of questions including multiple choice single and long questions. Those who pass the preliminary stage, then, go for an interview by the Judges of the Supreme Court.
Ultimately, the candidates are chosen as Law Clerks who are assigned to help the Judges in research projects, case analysis, and briefs development in addition to other legal tasks. If to become a Law Clerk candidate, one can expect to work for 1 year and to be able to stay there for about 2 years. According to the latest information obtained today, the Supreme Court of India is expected to come up with the next notification for the selection of law clerks in the middle of the year 2023. The written exam is scheduled to be held in 2024 in mid-year. The final list of selected candidates that will be published in March-April of 2025 is estimated to be released after the conclusion of all phases of the recruitment process. The number of law clerks to be hired will also be notified along with the call letters in the year of the next undergraduate batch.

The Supreme Court of India is expected to announce vacancies for the post of Law Clerk in various benches across the country in mid-2024. The exact number of vacancies is yet to be announced, but based on previous years' trends, we can expect around 20-30 vacancies.
