Medical Microbiology is a specialty area of study in Microbiology that deals with the interrelationship between microbes and human beings with special emphasis on the role of microorganisms in disease processes. The 2-year program offers comprehensive training in understanding the pathogenic organisms including bacteria, virus, fungi and parasites, principles of infection control and prevention, diagnosis and treatment, immunology and research in microbiology. Students acquire comprehensive skill, including microscopy, culture, diagnostic analysis and tests, quantitative and analytical skills to acquire clinical diagnosis, epidemiology, academics and research careers.
The tests applicable for admission into M.Sc Medical Microbiology programmes include CUCET, JNUEE, BHU PET, AMU Entrance Exam, JAM and individual tests conducted by the Universities affiliated to it. Qualifying degree scores, performance in N/STATE LEVEL TESTS constitutes the basis for admission in M.Sc. Medical Microbiology. Some institutes also have their own aptitude tests prior to admission into any course of study.
