The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a private university situated in Dehradun, which is the capital city of Uttarakhand, in India. In 2003, it was established and among the top three Indian institutions for engineering, management, and applied geosciences education are now being rated. With over 115 graduate, post graduate and doctoral programs specializing in different fields and faculties, UPS brings a plethora of options to the table. The institute provides multiple B.Tech courses including, but not limited to, Mechanical Engineering and MBA in Oil & Gas Management. Mechanical Engineering course offered by B.Tech concentrates on innovative design, industrial robotics, and manufacturing, and this course has a pedagogy that includes hands on activities, labs, and workshops. The mission of the MBA Oil & Gas Management program is to develop professionals ready to take up leadership roles in the energy industry, having different majors in petroleum operations or energy trading. Examinations at UPES Institute are conducted either online or offline including modalities such as closed, open, and case-based hypothetical formats. The UPES MEAT aptitude test, group discussion and one on one interview in the major cities of India are the part of UPES student admission process. Finalists are dully required to attend the university counseling session to enable the confirmation of admission for the 2024 academic year. UPESMET 2024 registration is currently open till 15 th of January 2024.

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Eligibility Criteria 2024
- 12th class or equivalent examination and must have secured minimum 60% in three core science subjects (physics, chemistry and mathematics) at least 55% marks for reserved candidates for the undergraduate programs.
- Bachelors degree in relevant job field with minimum CPI 60% (55% SC/ST) for master's programs.
- Writting exams of entrance qualification, for example UPESMET (University of Petroleum & Energy Management Entrance Test) or UPESEE (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test) depending on the degree specialization.
- For example, some schemes may also have extra requirements such as a certain GATE score, working experience or other things.
- NRI/PIO/FN with his/her cap of 15% are not required to have a special agreement on the capitalisation requirements for parties who obtain more than 49% of the total shareholding of the foreign party.Â

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Admission Process 2024
- UPES offers admissions to the programs of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the field of engineering management, business studies, law, arts, etc.
- In the case of admissions to an undergraduate course, an applicant must have at least 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 or equivalent examinations. Other programs may have varying and additional eligibility criteria.
- Admission is on the basis of the UPES entrance test i.e. UPET that tests aptitude, logical and abstract thinking.
- Besides UPET scores, the awards are given because of the official test results, personal interviews, academic records, extracurricular activities as well as achievements, etc.Â
- Postgraduate degree seekers need to have good grades in their Bachelor's again to qualify for admission with some percentage restrictions. A test like UPET, group discussions and interviews are carried on by the schools as a part of the admission process.
- Work experience, academic background, and entrance test performance all are being assessed before admitting to the program leading to a professional degree.Â
