MSc Microbiology is a two year postgraduate program which develops its skills of investigating microbes like bacteria, virus, fungi, protozoa and algae. In addition to teaching these concepts, the curriculum also starts with simple microscopy of the bacteria and ends up with their evolutionary relationships and also includes their life cycles, habitats, and the environment.
For the period of 4 semesters, students learn about the different applications of microbes in terms of agriculture, industry, health and environment. Core modules cover Microbial Physiology and Metabolism, Medical Microbiology, and Food and Dairy Microbiology, Immunology, Microbial Genetics, and Biostatistics. Students are privileged to have practice in microscopy, microbial culture isolations, identification, cell signaling pathways, gene cloning and immunological assays.
