Mumbai University is one of the largest state universities in India, located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Established in 1857, it has affiliated colleges spread across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts. The university offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in sciences, social sciences, humanities, commerce, engineering, law, medicine, etc. Some popular courses at Mumbai University include Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Master of Arts (MA) in Economics. The 3-year BCom program covers accounting, finance, management, and economics subjects. The 2-year MA Economics syllabus includes microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, econometrics, and other analytical specializations. Exam schedules for 2024 have not been released yet but end-semester exams are generally held in October-November while results are declared by December-January. Mumbai University admission process starts in May-June every year. For most UG and PG courses, admissions are based on merit which is calculated from candidates' qualifying exam marks. A common entrance exam is also conducted for specific programs.

Mumbai University Eligibility Criteria 2024
1. Should have passed out 12th level or equivalent from a recognized board.
2. For undergraduate programs, the minimum qualification needed for an applicant is 50% of aggregate marks in 12th (45% for reservation categories).
3. For postgraduate programs, possessing a relevant bachelor's degree with the minimum aggregate marks of 50% or 45% for reserved categories is mandatory.
4. Minimum 55% aggregate marks in the relevant master's degree is the basic requirement for eligible for Ph.D. and MPhil programs.
5. Must satisfy any other admission requirement set by Mumbai University and so forth.
6. Reservation and relaxations in marks will be applicable as per the instructions for Maharashtra state government.
7. Number of trials and age limitations are followed as per the norms of Mumbai University.
8. Students need to submit documents and certificates of Mumbai University during the admission as needed.
9. Must be able to pass any entrance tests required by a particular department.
10. The ones awaiting the final year qualifying exams are eligible to apply provisionally, fulfilling the eligibility criteria after the results have been announced.

Mumbai University Admission Process 2024
1. Application and Registration
- Students fill out and submit the application form online or offline. They register by providing details like personal information, academic scores, program of study, etc.
2. Entrance Exams
- For some programs like engineering, pharmacy, law etc. students have to appear for university-level or state-level entrance tests like MHT CET.
3. Merit List Preparation
- Based on class 12th scores, entrance exam scores, reservations etc. university prepares and releases the merit lists for various programs.
4. Document Verification
- Shortlisted students submit all required academic and personal documents for verification by the university/colleges. This includes mark sheets, certificates, photos etc.
5. Allocation of Seats
- Based on merit rank, choice of colleges/programs filled by the applicant, availability of seats - the provisional seat allocation happens.
6. Admission Confirmation
- Once seats are allocated, students have to pay the admission/program fees within the stipulated time to confirm their admission.
7. Enrollment
- The selected candidates complete their enrollment formalities after payment of fees. They start attending classes thereafter.
