This University is most famous and known as WBUHS – West Bengal University of Health Sciences Kolkata which was established in the year 2003. It is the sole university in the field of health sciences located in West Bengal and is both UGC listed and MCI approved. NAAC has accredited our university and WBUHS has got Grade A with CGPA 3.11. According to the NIRF Ranking of 2023, the WBUHS has secured its position on the 76th rank in the medical universities category in India.
WBUHS gives several Under Graduation and Post Graduation degree, diploma and certification courses on health sciences that include medicine, homeopathy, ayurveda, nursing, pharmacy and many more. The Major Courses offered by the University are MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS and BPT – Bachelor’s degrees and MD, MS, MDS, MPharm, MSc nursing – PG degree and Diploma in pharmacy, Medical lab technology etc. Some of the diploma courses have direct admission and this depends on the grades of the student in the relevant qualifying examinations.
WBUHS has more than 100 teaching hospitals and colleges affiliated to it, which provide internship and placements to students in West Bengal. Some of the reputed recruiters that come for campus placements in WBUHS are Apollo Hospital, Fortis Hospital, AMRI Hospital, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Peerless Hospital, RN Tagore Hospital, etc. The average salary package ranging from Rs. 3 to 8 lakh per annum in the hospitals for the Health Care students and some of the Pharmacy graduates got placement offers in multi-national companies like Pfizer, Abbott, GSK.
