IIT Guwahati is the premier technical and engineering institution of India which was established in the year 1994. The place is Guwahati, Assam and situated in midst of green environment. IIT Guwahati - Indian Institute of Technology Admission Process
- Admissions to IITs are through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) which has two stages - JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Students have to first clear JEE Main and score high enough to be eligible for JEE Advanced.
- JEE Main is the basic qualifying exam for JEE Advanced. It is used for admission to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutions.
- Only the top 2.5 lakh JEE Main qualifiers are allowed to sit for JEE Advanced exam which is conducted by any of the IITs on a rotational basis.
- To get into IIT Guwahati specifically, students have to score high ranks in JEE Advanced. Ranks are allocated based on performance in JEE Advanced.
- Apart from ranks, students also have to meet minimum subject and aggregate qualifying marks percentages set by Joint Admission Board (JAB).
- Through the common counseling procedure, students fill their choices of IITs and courses. Based on rank, choices filled and availability of seats, actual allotment of IIT and discipline is done.

IIT Guwahati Eligibility Criteria 2024
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 12th or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects. Minimum aggregate marks required vary for different categories.
- Age Limit: There is no age limit for taking admission in IIT Guwahati.
- Entrance Exams: Candidates have to clear JEE Advanced exam with required cut-off marks depending on category and type of program. Some programs also accept scores of other exams like GATE, CEED, NET, etc.
- Subject Combinations: Students from any stream like Science, Commerce or Humanities in Class 12th can apply if they have studied Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
- Percentage Criteria: General category candidates need to score at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12th. Relaxation up to 10% is given for SC/ST candidates. More relaxation for PwD candidates.
- Number of Attempts: There is no limit on number of attempts applicable for IIT JEE Advanced exam.
