Periyar University is a university belongs to the state of Tamil Nadu, which is located in India, Salem city. Being founded in 1997, it bares his name who was a social activist – Periyar E. V. Ramasamy. In addition to Periyar University there are a number of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certification courses are also available which are offered across faculties like Arts and Humanities, Science, Commerce, and Education. The most popular courses in the curriculum include BA in English literature, BA in Mathematics, MA (history), MSc (botany), MA (commerce), etc.
The end of the year examinations for even-semester students on the other hand usually occur in October-November while the odd-semester student sections winter exams are held in April-May. For the college program 2023-2024, therefore, the admissions application starts in May 2023. Applicants have a choice of applying either online or offline and their entry test is held for the eligible program they wish to enroll. Selection of candidates takes place on the basis of the performances they have obtained in the previous qualifying test and entrance test. The fees structure varies from INR 5000 to INR 25000 per annum as depends on a course. Although affiliated colleges run their admission process independently, they must adhere to the basic UW guidelines.

Periyar University Admission Process 2024
- Admission into programs like undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses, apart from colleges of arts, science, commerce, and education is accepted here.
- For the undergraduate programs, an admissions process is conducted based on the marks obtained during the Class 12 board examinations. Students may apply the university application form through the online form or offline (hard) copy which is available online or off campus.
- On the university level, the PG programs do take into account the final results of the similar undergraduate degree. Admisson is a student test followed by a personal counseling/interview session.
- MPhil and PhD are determined based on a university-wide entrance test. First, the finalists attend the interviews. Then, the ones with the most benefits are offered admission together with financial aid.
- While merit remains paramount, there are reservations based on OBC/SC/ST/Differently abled category, as per the government rules.
- Some of the programs that the international students are advised to apply for also can have eligibility criteria set by the University.
- The dates for the applicants would generally be June-July, with classes to begin in late August/ early September.
