The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi, commonly known as IIT BHU, is an Indian State Institution for technical education and research which is located in the city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Known also as the Banaras Engineering College from its founding in 1919 it was later renamed Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University and finally declared an IIT 2012.
The IIT BHU as a university provides both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a wide range of disciplines, engineering, science, management, arts, social sciences, medicine, and agriculture. It has 16 departments, 3 interdisciplinary schools, as well as more than 100 special centers and institutes. The institute has a wide variety of facilities which are distributed over a 1300 acres land and equipped with the most modernized researching equipment.

IIT BHU Eligibility Criteria 2024
1. For BTech programs: Clear the 12th class with a minimum 75% combined marks (only 65% for SC/ST ) in the subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. However, I could not bag JEE Advanced and, therefore, could not achieve the cut-off mark.
2. For integrated MSc programs: Specify 55% marks or more in science subjects ( class 12th pass for SC/ST) which will be accepted only for the Science streams. Those, who do very well in JEE Advanced or already passed any national level test such as JEST, JGEE BILSAT, etc can enter this program.
3. For MTech programs: Bachelors degree in practical area chiefly regarding specialization and scores at least 60% (55% for SC/ST). Experience to have the appropriate score above a particular passing point.
4. For Ph.D: Senior Master degree from appropriate field having aggregate marks not below than 55% To make it more powerful test RET should be performed by IIT BHU itself. Besides these, several other departments consider UGC/CSIR-NET or equivalent qualifications as well.
