Birla University, Purandarpur invites the application form for admission for the full time/ part time/ online PhD programs in the session 2024-25 in the faculties of Engineering & Technology, Science, Arts, Commerce, Management etc. The basic criterion for eligibility is that one must possess a master’s degree with 55 % marks or its equivalent. Others require a candidate to pass an entrance test and an interview for him or her to be hired.
The programme takes three years and aims at enhancing research skills by providing students with a chance to work with experienced faculty mentors. Students are able to select different majors and fields of study in order to work on previously unexplored topics. Some of the facilities which assist the research work are state of the art laboratories, library and computational facilities as well as other infrastructures.

1. Select the departments and the professors that reflect your interests and research areas. Check out the lectures’ webpages to find out more about their activities. What could be possible people to turn to for advice?
2. It is advisable to visit the university’s website and respective department to find information concerning Ph.D program admission. This is usually contained in such things like specific degree qualifications, test scores, recommendation letters among others. Always ensure that you meet these.
3. Take a practice standardized test for admission such as GRE, TOEFL, etc. If applicable register for the admission test and sit for it by November 2023.
4. Begin to write your SOP or statement of purpose. Here you have the opportunity to say what your research focus will be, what you intend to achieve, and what prior knowledge and experience you have in this area. Make sure to use the keywords specific to BU and the departments/ advisors you are applying to.
5. Reach out to potential advisors in September-October 2023 stating interest in their services. Attach your CV. Check to see if meetings are possible to schedule follow up to.
6. Select recommenders and submit the requests for recommendation letters, which should ideally be 3 from September 2023 onward to give the recommenders enough time. Brief them on your area of interest and the objectives that you have set! Offer them any information that may be useful to them.
7. It is recommended to begin to complete the university application form when it becomes available – around August-September of 2024. Be very certain when re-reading instructions when it comes to additional materials.
8. Make sure to mail all your completed application form and additional documents before the specified advertising date (December-January 2024).
