The Staff Selection Commission makes use of Graduate Level Combined Examination (CGLE), which is generally referred to as Common Graduate Level Paper (CG PAT). This is held on a national scale, with the attempt of recruiting candidates for various Central Government departments and ministries. The exam is composed of 4 stages, namely, tier 1 is where candidates have an objective type examination to shortlist the candidates, tier 2 involves a descriptive examination to shortlist the candidates further, tier 3 is the skill test which has to be done on the computer and tier 4 is document verification.

The CG PAT test is not only a general intelligence and reasoning, but also quantitative aptitude, English language and comprehension, general awareness and skill proficiency particular for every sub-category. The 2024 CG PAT may or may not be scheduled yet but probably in mid 2024 on the timeline of the previous years. The tier 1 exam is calculated to be scheduled for July 2024.
