M.Sc Nursing is an undergraduate level course that takes two years to complete and focuses on the advanced concepts in nursing, nursing research, and patient advocacy. It offers extensive information of several nursing disciplines such as medical surgical nursing, maternity and child health nursing, mental health nursing and others. The knowledge acquired by the students during the implementation of theories and the ability to develop nursing models and techniques to improve their competencies.

M.Sc Nursing program of two years is comprised of four semesters. Some of the entrance examinations that are considered while admitting students for M.Sc Nursing colleges are National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Entrance Test (PBBNET), MBA-CET Examination in M.Sc Nursing conducted by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). Several colleges also focus on the candidate’s performance in B.Sc Nursing, their proficiency in the entrance examination, and personal interview when offering the M.Sc Nursing program with the minimum passing grade of 55% in B.Sc Nursing.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Nursing) Eligibility

1. A candidate should possess B.Sc Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing degree from a recognized University with not less than 55% aggregate marks. 

2. Registered from State Nursing Registration Council: Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife certificate.

3. For the B.Sc Nursing holder, the candidate should have at least one year working experience after the completion of the course preferably in clinical / community health nursing.

4. Score secured in centralized entrance examination or in state level entrance examination as applicable.

5. Employment requirement and fitness certificate along with medical certificate and police verification certificate may also be needed.  

6. University recruitment guidelines should be followed with regard to candidates’ age, typically, over the 17 years of age.
