Advanced Diploma in Computer Application is a one year to two years diploma course that is offered in the computer application stream. This course offers a high level of computer literacy and skills in word processing application, spread sheets, databases, presentation, graphics and many more others. The course takes 1 year for candidates with 10+2 qualification while 2 years for those with class X qualification. The student learns the basic theories regarding computer operation as well as the practical knowledge of their use in relation to office work.
The general pass standard taken as a benchmark for entrance into the courses offered under Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications are the marks obtained in 10+2 examinations in respective subjects. I was also able to know that many of the colleges also set their own entrance test. Apart from this, some national/state level entrance tests for diploma courses are also accepted such as Polytechnic CET. Student themselves have to meet some minimum requirement in one of these entrance ways to be allowed to join the university. For mature students, prior work experience in IT sectors is also acceptable.
