1. The JEE Main is a preliminary entrance test for undergraduate programmes like BTech and it is a rank/score-based admission. Candidates have to appear for JEE Main exam, and then only after qualifying can they appear for JEE Advanced.
2. A candidate can apply for admission by applying NIT Hamirpur separately after he/she clears the cut-off of the JEE Main. The institute publishes its own rankings which is based on the different offerings.
3. Seats are reserved for students based on the rounds of counseling which consists of JoSAA and CSAB counselling. A counseling process is held for the students with JEE Main merit rank, programs choice and seats availability.
4. GATE exam is one of the admissions test for postgraduate admissions in MTech for example. Being selected is purely based on the GATE scores, performance in qualifying degree, and number of seats.
5. The admission of scholars for PHD also depends on the score obtained in GATE along with the general performance in the post-graduation. Candidates must also go for scheduled interviews before they are selected.
6. Another policy of NIT Hamirpur concerning this is allocating a portion of seats for international/NRI students on the basis of merit. The admission process for this is a bit different from that of the general admission one.
