National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management Master of Business Administration [MBA] Selection Criteria

  1. Educational Qualifications: Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. The minimum percentage or CGPA requirement may vary from year to year.

  2. Entrance Exam Score: NIFTEM often accepts scores from national-level management entrance exams such as CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test), or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test). Candidates are usually required to meet a minimum cutoff score in one of these exams.

  3. Academic Performance: In addition to the entrance exam score, academic performance in the qualifying degree program (usually a bachelor's degree) may also be considered. A high CGPA or percentage can enhance an applicant's chances of selection.

  4. Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates are often invited to participate in a GD and PI round. These rounds assess the candidate's communication skills, general knowledge, and interpersonal skills. Performance in GD and PI can significantly impact the final selection.

  5. Work Experience: While work experience is not always mandatory, some MBA programs, including those at NIFTEM, may give preference to candidates with relevant work experience in the food industry or related sectors.

  6. Statement of Purpose (SOP) or Essay: Applicants may be required to submit a Statement of Purpose or an essay explaining their career goals, aspirations, and reasons for pursuing an MBA at NIFTEM.

  7. Diversity Factors: Some institutions, including NIFTEM, may consider diversity factors such as gender, academic background, and geographic location when making admission decisions.

  8. Reservation Quotas: NIFTEM may follow government-mandated reservation quotas for different categories (e.g., SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD). Candidates falling under these categories may have specific admission criteria and reservation benefits.

  9. Merit List: After considering all the above factors, NIFTEM typically compiles a merit list of selected candidates for admission.
