ME Mechanical Engineering Admission 2024: Jobs, Salary, Syllabus, Top Colleges

2 Years
Post Graduation
Full Time

Mechanical engineering course introduced as an academic degree since the late 1800s. The first mechanical engineering departments at Roorkee Engineering College, today known as IIT Roorkee appears in 1848 and that at College of Engineering, Pune in 1854. Over time many more another good colleges like IITs, NITs, and private ones has come in the market offering mechanical engineering programs.

In India, post-secondary preparation is usually spanned into 4 years after completing 12 years of schooling. The first year will focus on the foundation of theory of physics and mathematics. During next two years, I’ll have eight mechanical engineering subjects, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, machine design and others. In the final year students pursue projects and internships under their own choice and may opt for electives as well. Pivotal specializations are thermal engineer, manufacturing tech, industrial engineer, automation & robotics. Aspirants of different fields very much prefer the B-School due to the fact that might they require to qualify through competitive exams like JEE Main, GATE, state CETs etc.

Master of Engineering [ME] (Mechanical Engineering) Entrance Exams

GATE: The GATE is a test designed to assess knowledge and competence of candidates in core mechanical engineering fields such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing processes, which are necessary for studying postgraduate programs in both India and foreign countries.

GRE: The Graduate Record Examination is taken commonly by the students having plans to pursue M.E. from university outside India while including sections on quantitative reasoning and analytical writing.

TANCET: Tamil Nadu Engineering Common Entrance Test determines candidates competency over the branches of engineering science, by testing knowledge of mechanical engineering basics and other engineering subjects for admissions into engineering programs of ME majors in the colleges located in Tamil Nadu.

AP PGECET: The State of Andhra Pradesh conducts post-graduate engineering common entrance test to assess the subject knowledge of the candidates in the mechanical engineering course so as to provide admission in ‘ME’ programs to the universities of Andhra Pradesh.

: Birla Institute of Technology and Science Higher Degree Admission Exam aims on exposing the candidates possessed with mechanical engineering basics for admissions into ME courses at BITS campuses.
